At the heart of our Napa Valley Estate lies 3,900-year-old obsidian rock — a silent guardian of time, anchoring the soul of Dragonglass.
What began as a dream nearly 20 years ago became a quest for something rare: a terroir worthy of legends. That search led us to a hidden valley where earth and fire have shaped a landscape of quiet power.
Our search for a truly iconic terroir to plant our favorite Clone of Cabernet Sauvignon led us to an extraordinary microsite in Napa Valley. Set against a breathtaking landscape, the land revealed something rare: volcanic soils rich in clay and obsidian.
This unique composition delivers a distinctive mineral elegance and linear precision to our wines. We completed micronutrient soil testing to predict potential micronutrient deficiencies. To our surprise there was none and the soil “as-is” was a perfect placement for grapes.
We knew in that moment: this was not just land. It was destiny.

The Dragonglass Napa Estate is the essence and soul of our global wine project. It marks the beginning of a long-endured journey – a dream which has taken us well over 15 years to turn into a reality.
Our desire to find one of the most unique Cabernet Sauvignon terroirs to make iconic wine, got us deeply immersed into this quest. Several years later, we stumbled upon one of the most spectacular and extraordinary microsites we had ever seen.
In addition to a breathtaking landscape, we found the soil to contain high deposits of volcanic matter and clay. In particular, there was high deposits of Obsidian which gives a superb mineral and linear quality to the wines. We completed micronutrient soil testing to predict potential micronutrient deficiencies. To our surprise there was none and the soil “as-is” was a perfect placement for grapes!
Dragonglass was born that same day!

The Dragonglass Toro project started as our dream to produce iconic wines from this unique and exceptional wine appellation.
After decades tasting countless high-end wines from Toro, we learnt to admire the outstanding quality and ageing potential that this region has to offer. It was then, well over a decade ago that we decided to start our journey and craft our very own wines under the Dragonglass brand umbrella.
We endured a long journey, with many challenges along the way. But it was all worth it as our main objective was to craft something extraordinary, characterized by the uniqueness of this region. There is history and heritage in every glass, and we are very proud to have endured this journey for you.
We found extremely old, pre-phylloxera vines of over 130 years of age. While yields are tiny – in some cases as low as less than 1.5Kg of fruit per vine – the quality of the berries is sensational. Extremely deep roots, sandstone and clay soils combined with Toro’s unique climate conditions provide great minerality, fine tannins, vivid acidity and sensational flavor concentration to our wines. We hope that you enjoy our wines with as much pleasure and passion as we crafted them for you.

After years of study and deep appreciation for this remarkable terroir, we embarked on a journey to craft our own wines – a pursuit defined by passion, precision, and timeless elegance.
We endured a long and winding journey, overcoming countless challenges along the way. Nestled in a unique microclimate with stunning views over the vineyards, we found this incredible architectural creation dating back to the fifteenth century – with some parts constructed as far back as the
Roman times.
In the fifteenth century, one of the great architects of that period completed the "Roman villa", a fortified farm for the regional monks which was also used for agricultural functions such as the storage of wine, grain and saffron.
